Life expectancy in nursing homes

It is well known that life expectancy in nursing homes (NHs) lower for older adults than those residing elsewhere. In this paper, we attempt to discover the exact extent of loss expectancy, and whether it can be explained by pre-existing health state conditions, especially seriousness dementia. We use a parametric survival model, on large data set spanning up 13 years, which covers states types residence all time periods until person dies. absence controls, 47 months. Accounting still leads 41-month life. Even with serious dementia would live longer lives if not NH. then value estimated years. The losses are large, equal $1.7 million per NH resident, $1.87 trillion US population.
